Key Responsibilities
1.Dispute Resolution
•To assist the Assistant Vice President (AVP) and/or Head of Department (HOD) in researching and formulating advice, guidance, and strategies in disputes or proceedings involving KWAP in a fair, timely and efficient manner.
•To assist the AVP and/or HOD on all relevant steps and actions for the appointment and liaison with external counsel as well as any other related or connected matters to the above.
2. Law Reform
•To assist the AVP and/or HOD to conduct research and analysis on the development of existing laws, regulations, and legal frameworks relevant to KWAP.
•Stay updated on legal trends, issues and best practices including staying abreast of legislative proposals, policy papers, and reports on law reform initiatives.
•Any other matters related or connected to the above including collaborating with other stakeholders.
3. Employment Law and Industrial Relations
•To assist the AVP and/or HOD in research, analysis and advising on employment law, industrial relations matters and relevant issues where Group Legal Services Department's input is required.
•Provide input in respect of policies, guidelines in relation to human resource or industrial relation matters to align with best practices and legal standards.
•To assist the AVP and/or HOD in reviewing KWAP’s employment contracts as and when required.
•Any other matters related or connected to the above.
4. Advisory
•To assist the AVP and/or HOD in research, analysis, and advising all legal matters in relation to any special projects undertaken by KWAP.
•To assist in any other projects as may be assigned by the HOD.
•Any other matters related or connected to the above.
5. KWAP’s Source of Authority
•To assist the AVP and/or HOD who are the central reference point in relation to queries vis-à-vis KWAP’s source of authority.
•To assist the AVP and/or HOD advising stakeholders on the above.
•Any other matters related or connected to the above.
6. Corporate Legal
•To assist the AVP and/or HOD in advising the Management or business units on any corporate legal matters as and when required.
•To assist the AVP and/or HOD to draft, analyse, and negotiate contracts, agreements and all other types of legal documents arising from any corporate projects.
•To assist the AVP and/or HOD in managing external legal counsel including in relation to empanelment, tiering, and removal from panel
•Any other matters related or connected to the above.
7. Knowledge Management
•To act with expertise as the organisation's authority on using clear and effective verbal communications skills to express ideas, request actions and formulate plans or policies.
•Plan, establish, enhance, and promote relevant department database as a main point of reference for any legal-related development to foster interactive knowledge sharing and intellectual discourse on current issues.
•Plan and lead the production of thought leadership pieces pertaining to legal development on investment, pension, administration-related laws and regulations.
8. Planning & Organising
•Initiate, plan, and provide solutions for the improvement of strategic function as well as actively take part in KWAP-wide projects or events. Ensure that the unit is in full compliance without compromising sound decision-making processes.
•Plan, setup, refine, manage timelines, and coordinate work required to ensure timely updates for top management.
Key Requirements
1.Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
2.Admission to the Malaysian Bar, Malaysian Institute of Arbitration (MIarb) or Chartered Institute of Arbitration (Ciarb) will be an added advantage.
3.Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in corporate and commercial, employment law or industrial relations, regulatory drafting, corporate legal advisory, or a combination thereof. Dispute resolution and pension law exposure is an added advantage.
4.Strong analytical capabilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and effective interpersonal skills.
5.Self‑motivated and able to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
